Welcome to The Roost, a cosy but spacious 'dog friendly' award winning, barn conversion in Shropshires beautiful, idyllic and peaceful rural countryside, between Shrewsbury and Church Stretton, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, perfect for relaxation, walking the hills or visiting local attractions, towns and villages.
Enjoy alfresco dinning in the peaceful dog friendly garden where you can listen to the birds whilst taking in the view of the adjoining lake and the South Shropshire hills of Caer Caradoc and The Lawley.

The Roost is situated in a quiet rural setting, surrounded by fields, on the edge of the Shropshire Hills, AONB. Dorrington just over a mile away, has a local shop and post office, pub/restaurant serving great food and drinks and a 'Persian' restaurant and take away. The Welsh border is just 9 miles away.
Guests can enjoy peace and relaxation, or if its activity you're looking for, you may choose to walk or cycle the Shropshire Hills and lanes, canoe or paddle board down the River Severn in Shrewsbury or even participate in wild swimming at Cardingmill Valley.
Shrewsbury is one of Shropshires delights, The Times stating "it's the overlooked market town...... stuffed with independent shops.....the markets excellent.......the pubs are terrific." The Tudor centre has many historical buildings. There are gentle walks along the River Severn and adjoining gardens and it's museums, castle and abbey to explore
If it's the 'Arts' you're looking for why not book an evening at the contemporary Theatre Severn or the historic Old Market Hall for a film, live music or stage show. Visit one of the many local craft shops such as the VAN Gallery in the Darwin Shopping Centre exhibiting local arts and crafts in prices to suit you wallet. Stay in July or August to visit the legendary Shrewsbury Arts Trail showing art by LS Lowry, Dali and Banksy as well as up and coming local artists.
Walking Holidays in the Shropshire Hills...
There are a multitude of walks close by in the Shropshire Hills, on the Long Mynd or the famous Wenlock Edge, The Wrekin or Stiperstones, all just a short drive away.
For those that require a gentle more accessible stroll then you could walk along the River Severn in Shrewsbury or head for the National Trust at Attingham Park or NT land at Cardingmill Valley where you can finish off with lunch or a coffee in their cafe or head into Church Stretton to one of it's many eateries.
Visitor Attractions, Nr Shrewsbury, Shropshire
If you need a break from walking then there are plenty of other things to do in Shropshire, be it a visit to one of the many National Trust or English Heritage properties such as Attingham Park, Stokesay Castle or pop over the border into Wales and visit Powis Castle.
Ironbridge with it's many attractions are well worth a visit as is Ludlow with it's 500 listed buildings, castle and open-air market, from farmers to craft or antiques, on at least 5 days a week.

We have our own dog, Harvey, a Golden Retriever so we know how important it is for them to feel settled and happy.
We accept up to 2 dogs FREE of charge and provide them with a water bowl, bed, a few treats and a toy to help settle them in. There is an enclosed rear garden and good walking not too far away.
The area is very dog friendly with shops and eateries in the area welcoming them and lots of fun and sociable walking for you both to enjoy.
